EMERGENCY FOOD DISTRIBUTION
In March and April of 2020 over 25 families near Pucallpa were left hungry due to COVID-19 lockdown measures. Thanks to your generous support, we were able to deliver over 1 ton of rice and other food staples to those in need in our community!
Though lockdown has ended and our food distribution has ceased, our desire to feed the hungry in Pucallpa has not. We are excited to announce that your donations have already helped launch an exciting new project.
Soup Kitchen
ACT Peru has partnered with a local volunteer initiative to provide low cost meals to the community through the creation of a soup kitchen. A team of local volunteers are providing their time and labor and a building (pictured above) for the kitchen's operation, while ACT Peru has already funded the purchase of pots and pans, dishes, propane stoves, and the first month's supply of food.
As of July 21, 2020 the soup kitchen's doors are open and meals are already being served!
