TAKING ACTION IN THE AMAZON
WHO WE ARE
ACT Peru is a non-profit organization providing humanitarian aid to the people of Pucallpa, Peru and the surrounding region. This growing city is located on the banks of the Ucayali river. Pucallpa is the gateway to the Amazon jungle, with over 300,000 people in the city and many, many more poor in bedroom communities nearby. Poverty, disease, parasites, and malnutrition plague the people, and few have access to running water or sanitary facilities. ACT Peru is working with outlying communities to provide sanitary solutions and nutritional support for families and individuals.
Assisting with the physical and social needs of the local people.
Connecting volunteers to local needs.
Transforming the lives of all involved.
EMERGENCY FOOD DISTRIBUTION
HOW YOU CAN HELP
In March and April, over 25 families near Pucallpa were left hungry due to COVID-19 lockdown measures. Thanks to your generous support, we were able to deliver over 1 ton of rice and other food staples to those in need in our community!
Though lockdown has ended and our food distribution has ceased, our desire to feed the hungry in Pucallpa has not. We are excited to announce that your donations have already helped launch an exciting new project.
ACT Peru has partnered with a local volunteer initiative to provide low cost meals to the community through the creation of a soup kitchen. A team of local volunteers are providing their time and labor and a building (pictured above) for the kitchen's operation, while ACT Peru has already funded the purchase of pots and pans, dishes, propane stoves, and the first month's supply of food.
As of July 21, the soup kitchen's doors are open and meals are already being served!
ACT Peru is looking for monthly financial partners who can keep this community project alive, and keep the needy of Pucallpa fed. We are asking individuals, families, businesses, and churches to contribute.
It only costs $15 a month to provide an affordably daily meal to 1 hungry individual, and a donation of $45 would be enough to feed 3 people all month.
That's 45 for food, though any amount is needed and greatly appreciated.
